The Jackson-Bridge Difference
Our Full-time academy is for serious players! A priority of Jackson-Bridge is developing a CEO mentality of leadership, focus, organization, self-discipline, team building, self-improvement and the daily grind of building something special.
Jackson-Bridge believes that “burnout” is a lack of improvement or a lack of desire to excel in tennis. We are only looking for the highly-dedicated. Love of the game and the process of development is an absolute prerequisite to being a part of the program.
We will push you! You will do all of the little things necessary for success. We will invest in your complete development and demand that all of our players “train like pros.”
Pro Career Development
Our PATH-TO-PRO program involves systematic training designed by KEVIN JACKSON and MITCH BRIDGE. The player roster is limited to 4-6 players. Players are typically ages 12-30 years with 5 to 7 years playing experience and are competing in National to ITF tournaments. Training modes include private instruction, athletic development, tournament prep, and mental toughness training. Tournament and career management is provided with the involvement from parent managers.
College Bound Training
The Jackson-Bridge PATH-TO-COLLEGE tennis program is for players who attend independent/online academic programs and are playing Junior Open to National tournaments. Players in this Path-to-College tennis program are typically ages 11-18, with the program customized for the specific needs of each player. College placement is offered to all of our Path-to-College players starting in Grade 10. Training modes include private instruction, athletic development, tournament prep, and mental toughness training.
360 Degree Evaluation
Our Performance Evaluation Assessment Key P.E.A.K. assesses our player’s current ability and projects future proficiency to serve as a 360-degree player profile evaluation. All students are rated using a 45-point technical, tactical and mental toughness proficiency metrics.
Individualized Development Plan
The second component of the method is our Competitive Edge Plan C.E.P. which is a roadmap for our players daily training. After reviewing the results from the Performance Evaluation Assessment Key, we are able to define proficiencies and deficiencies allowing us to design a development plan. The plan gives the player 3-9 month goals.
Work The Training Method
There are 4 components in our daily training program (1) Private Instruction, (2) Repetition Drills, (3) Tactics/Competition, and (4) Athletic Development. Since every player has their own unique plan and skills to develop the players learn to increase their focus and time management skills. All players are mentored through the daily mental challenge of intensive training.
Results Review & Plan Modification
Although this is an ongoing process, we review our student’s overall progress every three months. In that review, changes may be made based on what we, the coaching team and the player, quantify as adequate progress. As players develop a mastery in areas that were deficient we re-evaluate to find the weakest areas in their game to begin the process at their current level.
On-Court Training Blocks
Our daily training is divided into two time slots. The first is a 2.5hr block from 12-2:30 pm being designated for private instruction, technical and tactical drills, hitting lessons, small group situational hitting, topical mental training, and agility drills.
The second 3hr block begins at 3 pm as we transition into competition mode with sets and point play (singles and doubles), challenge matches, match tactics and routine training, private instruction, and hitting lessons. Included in this time slot is fitness training / athletic development from 4-6 pm.
Since all players have different areas of focus daily training may vary within the time slot (blocks). Players are encouraged to take ownership of their daily training needs under our guidance and supervision. Typically players will train with 4hrs of tennis and 1hr of fitness daily based on tournament schedules.
Working Effectively & Efficiently
- Private Instruction: All full-time and part-time players are assigned a primary coach for private instruction. Players are assigned to a Director or Academy Head Coach.
- Small Group Drills: Player schedules include small group drill sessions. These sessions are for working on repetition, technique, movement, or a variety of developmental systems.
- Competition / Tactical Training: We use a UTR based competition ladder to ensure players are competing against others above and below their level.
- Athletic Development: There is a major emphasis on fitness at the academy because it is foundational to increased consistency and mental focus.
Jackson-Bridge has players competing at every level and Southern California is home to elite tournaments and perfect weather conditions. All players are evaluated and monitored using the UTR & Tennis Recruiting rating systems. As UTR’s increase, we help our players in the selection of tournaments.
From the SoCal Junior Open circuit to level 1 ITF’s like the Easter Bowl and the Spring Championships, every player has an opportunity to develop their competitive skills.
Moving to the next level with a breakthrough on the pro circuit is just as accessible with ATP men’s and WTA women’s tournaments year round (Men’s & Women’s Futures / Challengers). Including the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.
